LMC CHRISTMAS LIGHTS
"I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." John 8:12

Welcome to the LMC CHRISTMAS LIGHTS! We hope this site will help you to see why we do what we do and also provide useful information about the display and when it will be on for the 2009 season.

The LMC Christmas lights are unique in that they are totally computer controlled, and the lights move in time to the music. The show runs for about 25 minutes, repeating for the two hours that the display is on each night. It is held on the Oxley College/Life Ministry Centre property in Melbourne's outer eastern suburbs (please visit www.lmc.org.au for more information about LMC.)

At LMC we believe in blessing the community in which we live. The light display is one way we can do this by providing a safe, pleasant environment for families to come and enjoy a unique display during the special season of Christmas. The other reason we do the display is because we want to acknowledge the true meaning behind Christmas, which is so often lost in the modern day commercialism of the Christmas season. We want to remind people that Christmas is, above all else, about the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ 2,000 years ago. It is our prayer that everyone who sees the display will be drawn a little closer to God.

If you have seen the display please give us some feedback and let us know what you enjoyed and what we can do better for next year! Further enquiries, feedback or comments may be directed to feedback@lmclights.org
So much  time and effort goes into the display so it's always wonderful to hear feedback from people who have enjoyed and been impacted by it in some way - we would love to hear from you!

News Update 30/11/09:
Construction of the 2009 display has now started. We have made steady progress over the past few weeks with sequencing and wiring up the main frame after some initial problems with the computer. Actual lawn display construction begins in earnest on Thursday Dec 3rd and we expect to light-up on December 10th.

News Update 10/12/09:
Well after a crazy few weeks and many long days and nights the display is finally ready. Still a few finishing touches but we are good for light up tonight, December 10th as planned. Currently the rain is pouring down and it's only 1 1/2 hours until lights on so weather permitting the show will go on!

News Update 11/12/09:

Last night was rained out but we took the opportunity to work on the little bugs and get the show running as smoothly as possible. Still working on one last sequence which will hopefully be ready tonight or tomorrow night. Thanks to everyone who has helped to make the 2009 display possible. Special mentions to Luke Taylor, Brenton Kelley, Jacob Devo and Cam Bannard for helping to errect the display and also to Serge at Party Hire Productions (www.partyhireproductions.com) for the sound gear.

News Update 17/12/09:
Last night was a great night with lots of visitors and a wonderful atmosphere. The warmer weather definitely gets people out more - we even had a few tour buses drop by which was great. Gearing up for a big weekend and final days before Christmas Eve!
Also added some videos of this years display below. They aren't great quality and don't show the full display but hopefully enough of a glimpse to get you down here in person!

News Update 18/12/09:
Well last night the display was not on due to the heavy rain we  experienced during the afternoon. We apologise if you came to see them and were disappointed. The forecast looks good right up until Christmas Eve so the lights will definitely be running every night until then so come down and say hello!

News Update 21/12/09:
Tonight we had a huge scare just hours before the show. Something this major has never happened before this close to show time. The main PC which runs the show somehow got a virus off my USB stick and caused it to start randomly re-booting itself. After multiple re-install failures we had to run the show from a backup laptop and unfortunately the mini-trees weren't on as they require an older digital card to work (which the laptop doesn't have.) We didn't start the show until 9:20 either however people were very patient and once the show was  up and running they were delighted and again it was just a wonderful atmosphere. Tomorrow will allow us time to get the desktop machine running again with a fresh re-install and we look forward to a smooth, glitch-free last few nights of the show!

News Update 22/12/09:
Well after a day of hard work we have the main machine running perfectly again and we are all go for tonight. Anticipating a big crowd in as there are only 3 nights left to see the show for this year. We have also added another song to the sequence  so if you are coming back for another look you will also get to see that. Hope to see you there!

News Update 23/12/09:
Last night we had some issues with traffic at the display. If you are visiting us, please avoid parking on the right hand side of the entrance road to the lights. Ample parking is available on the top right hand side car parks if you follow the loop around the church. Please also drive slowly as there are a lot of young children around and the last thing we would want to see is an accident. We would greatly appreciate you following the above requests as it will make for a safe and enjoyable night for everyone. We look forward to seeing you at the lights, only 2 nights left for 2009!

News Update 24/12/09:
Well after nearly 2 weeks this is it. 1 night left to see the lights for 2009.  Unfortunately we have rain forecast for today but unless it is very heavy or persists well into the night the lights will remain on. A big thank you goes out to all who have come to see the lights. It's easily been our biggest year yet and we have had some wonderful feedback. We trust you've enjoyed the display for this year and hope to see you back in 2010. Merry Christmas!!
